YIN SONG event April 14th
We are delighted to invite you to our YIN SONG event on April 14th at The Rainbow Centre in Mullumbimby, just outside of Byron Bay.
Christopher Mapstone and Iselin Amanda Støylen bring you a new offering of yoga and sound.
A satisfying and uplifting merging of body, mind and spirit through the practise of Yin yoga, and the expression of music and song.
Opening our bodies up through Breath (Prana) and Postures (Asana) with a 60 minute Yin Yoga class guided by Iselin Amanda Støylen, accompanied by Chris’ guitar playing. Followed up with a 15 minute meditation and sound bath, that will allow you to sink deeper into you body, mind and spirit, bringing you further into relaxation and a place of deep peace.
Gently, we will bring you back into the space with the luscious sounds and songs of Christopher Mapstone. Concluding the journey with a 30 minute song sharing of Bhakti mantra and medicine songs, encouraging us to open our voices and allow ourselves to be sung to share our own unique vibration and frequency.
The yoga class will be rooted in yin yoga and a restorative practice. We will practice a sequence of seated and lying-down asanas, holding each posture for 3-5 minutes. This yoga class is sequence to encourage our bodies to drop into full relaxation, and support restitution and recovery. In yin yoga we work with the asanas as a tool to strengthen the meridians (energy centres) in the body. (The meridian system is a concept in traditional Chinese medicine about a path through which the life-energy known as "qi" flows.)
On a physical level, we use the asanas to target the deeper tissues and fascia in our bodies; working on a deeper level than during more dynamic yoga classes.
This practice supports our parasympathetic nervous system; “rest and digest”.
Christopher will be performing mantras, as well as songs off of his album “Spirit Songs”. All of the music is performed at the vibrational frequency of 432hz. Which is a natural harmonic of the earths vibrational Frequency. Performing music at this frequency creates a harmonious and balanced experience for all of the participants. People are invited to share their voices and sing along. Singing has been scientifically proven to release positive neutrons within the brain hemisphere which is second only to deep meditation. Here we can further co-create our blissful experiences.
Join us on the mat for a soft, nourishing and uplifting practice and experience.
Christopher brings together ancient traditions with modern music in a symbiotic merging of sound and ceremony, honouring all who have been, all who are and all who are yet to come.
As a world traveller, Christopher's songs have been influenced by rich cultural and musical experiences, and his musical repertoire consists of voice, guitar, didgeridoo, percussion, harmonica, wooden flutes, and ukulele. His lyrics reflect his passion and understanding for equality, freedom of speech, self-reflection, relationships, the connection to the natural world, and an awakening of the human spirit into a peaceful and vibrant global community.
Christopher believes that music is a potent and strong practice of creativity and purpose, and if done with awareness and intention can have a profound effect on the performer and listener. With this approach, Christopher draws on the moment to co-create a transformative energy through music.Christopher has graced the stage of Bali Spirit Festival 4 years consecutively while also performing at Byron Spirit Festival, Bhakti Yoga Summer Festival in Germany and hundreds of other gatherings and events.
He has played with renowned musicians such as Murray Kyle, Kevin James Carrol, Shai Shriki, Elijah Ray, and Dustin Thomas.
His debut album "Spirit Songs" garnered much acclaim from people all around the world and his live performances are uplifting and heart opening.
Weaving Sound and Ceremony through the power of music. For the heart, from the heart, and of the heart.

Personally, I look upon yoga as something way greater than a physical practice. Yoga to me is a way of life and a method of deepening our understanding of life. I believe that a regular practice of yoga has the ability to strengthen the mind as much as the body; creating space and raising our awareness towards the point of physical liberation and enlightenment.
